Sindhi Nursery Rhymes Competition 2025 Report (English)

Sindhi Sangat proudly celebrated its 9th International Prize Distribution Ceremony of the Sindhi Nursery Rhymes Competition on 23rd November 2025 at Sita Sindhu Bhawan.

This year, we received 1386 entries from 73 cities, from both India and abroad. One of our winners was from Uganda, which truly shows how far our language has travelled.

Our Chairman, Mr. Mohan Gehani, presented the prizes at the ceremony. We announced 20 computer tablets and 20 smartwatches as prizes. Since the winners are spread across many different cities, only six were able to come personally to collect their awards. The remaining winners will receive their prizes at home, as these items cannot be sent via regular courier. All prizes are being shipped directly through Amazon. The Tablets are sponsored by Harish Kewlani.

Sindhi Sangat began this initiative in 2016, with a strong focus on teaching Sindhi to children aged 3 and above. We truly believe that early childhood is the easiest and most natural stage to learn a language - especially our mother tongue, Sindhi. The Judges for this competition were Kishor Lalwani, Hema Gandhi and Priya Vachhani.

All participant videos are being uploaded on our YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/sindhisangatkids

Every child receives a participation certificate. Many schools send entries in bulk — sometimes more than 50 students at a time. We’ve noticed that these schools often produce prize-winners because their teachers actually teach the rhymes in class and make the effort to prepare the children. As a token of appreciation, we also send gifts to these dedicated teachers.

Our focus is that Sindhi should be offered as a subject under the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes learning in the mother tongue in the early years. Sindhi Sangat is meeting various Education Departments and Ministers to push for this implementation. We request support from Sindhi leaders worldwide who have influence or connections that can help us move this mission forward.

If we want our children to learn Sindhi from the very beginning, this is the moment.

If we don’t protect our language, no one else will.

Our mother tongue is our identity - and it's our duty to preserve it. Let us all unite in this mission—because if we don’t take responsibility for preserving our identity and language, no one else will.
