Biography:
Shri Arjan Jethanand Tanwani, popularly known as Arjan Hasid in Literature, was born on 7 January, 1930 in Karachi (Now Pakistan). He was in government service and retired as Post Master, Gondal H. O. in the year 1988.
Shri Hasid is the senior most and prominent Sindhi poet of India and Sindh (Pakistan). Seven poetry collections of Shri Hasid have since been published. He writes in all forms of poetry, but he is well known for his songs on Doordarshan, Radio and Music Festivals. A lot of his poems are widely and regularly being published in all Sindhi Magazines and translated in Hindi and English. Some of his poetry books have been prescribed as Textbooks for University Examines.
Shri Hasid got Sahitya Akademi Award in the year 1985 on his book Mero Sij. He also got Gaurava Puraskar of Gujarat Sindhi Sahitya Akademi in 1998 and NCPSL Award of Rs. 50,000/- on his outstanding book Sahee Patie (2006). He remained as a member of the advisory board as well as jury of National Sahitya Academi and also presided over National Literary Seminars many a times.
