Sindhi TV program
Sindhi Sangat, Dubai, has produced many Sindhi Programs which were being telecast on satellite channel Doordarshan DD Sahyadri from 4th March 2007. As DD Sahyadri Channel is Marathi Channel and cannot be viewed through out India. Even though it is a satellite channel, most Cable operators outside Maharashtra do not show this channel on their cable network.
Hence as per the request of our viewers we have now got a half an hour slot on DD India. This channel can be seen all over India and also in 146 countries. The programe can be seen every Sunday at 1:00PM (IST) and will be repeated on Mondays at 4:30 am (IST) which will be a convenient time for viewers in United States and Canada etc (Sunday, 8:30 PM Eastern US time).
Even though Sindhi language is used by millions of people around the globe, there is a dearth of media sources showcasing Sindhi culture, history, arts, and humor. Regional languages such as Marathi, Gujarati, and Tamil are heavily supported and funded by their respective state governments. As stateless people, Sindhis do not enjoy such support. As a result, the language is at risk of disappearing and thus the identity of the Sindhi people as well.
In view of such circumstances, it becomes the responsibility of Sindhi people to preserve their language. It is with this motive the founders of Sindhi Sangat, Murj Manghnani, Dr. Moti Prakash and Asha Chand, are eager to provide Sindhis across India and the world with a high quality source of multimedia entertainment.
We shall greatly appreciate assistance from one and all to spread the information about this new and exciting quality program “Sindhi Surhaan” on DD India every Sunday starting 23 September 07.
